eLab City - New Second Life Research Project eLab City will be a two-island sim in Second Life. It is being developed by the University of California, Riverside, Sloan Center for Internet Retailing, for the purpose of studying consumer behavior in virtual worlds.

Gold on the Teen Grid (if you know where to look) I’m sharing it because I think it’s a great example of the hope and promise Teen Second Life has as an educational environment, and sets a high standard for the skills, behaviors and professionalism teens can develop in-world that carry over into real life.

I think it’s better to just post the details Glenn Linden wrote on a notecards that are being passed around Second Life. The whole thing seems very exciting, and it seems they expect it to drive up traffic in a big way. I have seen second Life mentioned on shows before, but not on this level. I’m excited about watching!

Could Preserving Second Life Create Big Brother One of the big problems with second life when they talk about preserving it is this interactive experience. Linden doesn’t do things like keep careful track of what users are saying, they’re not filling their disks with years and years of transaction logs - I’m sure the users are very happy about that…

Second Life’s 2nd Try This is my second time signing up to join Second Life. I first signed up last Christmas after I read an article about it on an airplane. I was excited to join; it was going to be the perfect way to waste time while I was bored at home during winter break. Too bad I couldn’t get off the stupid welcome island.
