Interesting Second Life Stats
Just had an interesting site emailed me, thanks Torley, chock full of interesting Second Life stats that I had not seen anywhere else. Like this one, the recent custom names report, which are the last names that are created and paid for by companies, such as the Reuters reporters, all of their last names are Reuters. Guess who the most recent company was to create a custom last name? Google. It was created on September 19, 2007, and last used on October 9, 2007, so they are not burning the world up, and I suspect they probably had people in Second Life for years, but, this is probably official. As a matter of fact check the list below for some big companies that have created custom last names in Second Life.

The payment status report is also interesting, I wonder where he gets these numbers, these only add up to a little over 2 million avatars.

One more interesting avatar report is the Oldest Non-Linden Members, which lists the oldest avatars without a Linden name. These are either very early adaptors, or Linden alts.
The site also has some region statistics, newly brought online, recently removed and region rating stats. Note, it does look like there are some inaccuracies, so I hope the owner can come and comment on the site.

Stop hoping, I’m here.
With regards to the “inaccuracies” of the total avatar count: I only store information on av’s that have been active in-world in some form. That means buying/selling, owning land, or even visiting a popular sim.
It does not take into account the large percentage of “vapor accounts” that complete the signup process but never make it off the the welcome island.
Hope this explains things a bit.
My site has contact information, so feel free to drop me a line directly with any questions.
