I first saw this the other day when I was checking out some of the popular places, a sign you could click and get paid for adding a site to your picks and keeping it there for 30 days. This was at Platinum World, one of the popular places that has lots of camping spots and sells skins. I took this pic on January 26th, so they have been using if for a few weeks anyway.

Dedric Mauriac first mentioned it here in this blog post, Get paid for adding picks, and I assumed that this place was just using the same system as Platinum World. Well, they are because the JVA Products Shop that Dedric mentioned created, I assume, and sells the product.

FFRC Offers Grants Totaling L$75,000

The Foundation For Rich Content will offer up to L$75,000 (75 thousand Linden dollars) for the fall granting cycle. Applicants may request UP TO $25,000 per project to create rich content in second life. Applicants may also choose to request smaller funding amounts for smaller projects. Funding may be used to upload textures, acquire goods or services necessary to the project, to pay staff, or fund other requirements of the project. The deadline for applications is November 25.

Applicants are asked to fill out a very short form to describe the project.

Interesting post from New World Notes on a new style of camping site in Second Life, Puerto Banus is paying models to walk up and down the catwalk wearing their traders’ designs and other designs in SL, referring to is as ‘earn as you go’ job, if you can call camping a job, rather than sitting in a chair somewhere just to boost traffic. This sim is constantly in the top 20 in foot traffic, so it’s certainly boosting it’s traffic, but it has the added functionality of being able to see the clothes in action on the models.

When Tateru and I began our search for genuinely popular communities in Second Life, free from camping chairs, we briefly scratched our heads over Puerto Banus, a place that’s consistently crowded and in the Lindens’ Top Twenty sites by foot traffic. On my first visit, I saw dozens of fashion models striding along a row of catwalks in a kind of fantasia Miami Beach locale. Must be big hangout with fashionistas, I thought, and teleported off.

He even noted that it seemed that every avatar there was afk, away from keyboard, so, he says, Second Life itself was virtualized. A comment from Vint Falken noted another camping spot, one that let you roam around and actually do stuff while you were camping. It’s an Italian energy drink sim, and all you have to do is attach a can of energy drink and while you are in that sim, you are earning some free lindens. Neither mention how much you earn or give slurl’s to the camping spots, I will find them later when I am inworld and add them to this post.

Yes, that’s the name of it, Welfare Island, and all you do there is earn Lindens, it is currently the most popular place in Second Life and everyone is there to get their free lindens. The description on the popular places page says “Highest Camping in All Second Life!!! Get on welfare today and let us take care of your money / lindens problems! FREE Linden”. Not sure what the highest camping rates are, but the people on this building below were earning L$3 lindens every ten minutes.

The long line in the pic below are all avatars looking to make money by completing surveys, offers from affiliate programs, if the lines weren’t so long, I would hang around long enough to see how much you make per offer. If anyone knows the offers they use, please let me know at eubeenhadd@gmail.com, as I can find out how much they make from the offer and then will be able to tell how much of it you are getting.

This one is my “favorite” part right here in the TOS, where they tell you, you get paid instantly, unless, of course we have to wait on the payment, then you have to wait, and you might not get it at all. “Payment to members is processed instantly and paid via Linden Dollars. You, the member, understand and acknowledge that no payment shall be made to you or any other member until WI has received instant payment from its advertisers.” Sounds like a typical incentivized program, no matter what happens they still get your info.

Do you earn lindens by camping? Many people probably already know this spot, but it’s the first time I had been there. They have many spots around the island on which on you camp, I saw people dancing for L$4 Lindens per 15 minutes and L$3 lindens per 10 minutes when wearing the gamers guide, and L$1 Linden per ten minutes or L$1 Linden per five minutes if wearing the ParrotHead Gamers guide.

They also have a nice looking mall on the property, a mud wrestling pit, dancing, and they even have pizza!

Looking at earning some lindens by camping? Sunbelt Software Island has some on their beach, it was crowded when I got there, but it looked like a couple spots were open. I believe they even have a group to help coordinate campers. They are paying L$2 lindens per 10 minutes.

I just ran across this page from the latest Second Opinion Newsletter, and that the last bit of it fits well in my recent ways to get free lindens and invest your lindens postings, this article talks about filling needs and earning lindens selling stuff that avatars need, but don’t know they need yet.

The “missed” extends to opportunities Residents can take advantage of.
