Second Life Israel to host 60th Birthday Party with Performance by Members of Top Israeli Band ‘Shotei Hanevuah’
In honor of Israel’s 60th birthday this May Second Life Israel is proud to host a special performance featuring members of ‘Shotei Hanevuah.’ On May 25th, parallel to a concert held at Columbia University in New York in honor of Israel’s 60th, SL Israel will be streaming Shotei Hanevuah’s performance at 11AM and 7 PM SL (PST Time). This is the first of the ‘Israel at 60’s’ series to be held this year at SL Israel highlighting different aspects of Israel and its society to Second Life’s global audience.
‘Shotei Hanevuah’ literally ‘Fools of Prophecy’ was one of Israel’s premier bands, winning its Band of the Year Award in 2005. The band’s music was a fusion of reggae, dub, hip hop and dance spiced with an eastern Mediterranean flavor, with lyrics in Hebrew, Arabic and English. Both in Lyrics and sound the band conveyed in beautiful harmony a blend of East and West influences, including references to the Jewish Mishna and Kabala, alongside lyrics in Arabic and Middle Eastern harmonies. Though the band disbanded in 2007 this performance of 4 former members of the band, featuring a rich range of musical styles and lyrical content, testifies to the beautiful cultural and spiritual variety that makes up today’s Israel.
Second Life Israel was launched January 13th and since then has consistently ranked as the top Israel site and one of the top Jewish sites in Second Life. SL Israel offers Second Life’s millions of members the ability to teleport instantly into the virtual Israel, and to explore a country that is fun and educational, ancient and modern, imaginative and real. Sites on SL Israel include the holy sites of the 3 major monotheistic religions, the Tel Aviv Promenade with the Opera House and Dizingoff Fountain, the Dead Sea and mud baths, the Eilat Underwater Observatory, and the Roman Amphitheater in Caesarea.

Classical Pianist Origin Rang is playing Friday night at the Oyster Bay, I haven’t got to listen to him myself, but if you go by the Oyster Bay’s blog, he’s pretty good. He’s playing Friday, at 6PM, on the Oyster Bay.
Classical Music group leader Tyrol Rimbaud says:
“For those who have been fortunate to hear this artist, you will know to be there. If you have not yet been a party to his concerts, this is your opportunity.
“In the opinion of many, the finest musician in Second Life. Simply put, his gift as a pianist is peerless. Come hear the power of a truly virtuoso pianist perform his craft.”
Come early - the sim WILL fill!
From the blog:
The last time Origin Rang graced Oyster Bay with his presence; he was a little-known commodity on the Second Life music scene. Back after just a couple months, he’s a bona fide star. And we’re so excited to have him back this Friday night!
Seeing as Oyster Bay is a “part-time” music venue, we have the luxury of being extremely picky and choosy about our performers. I’m really more interested in quality over quantity - making every performance at Oyster Bay not just another show on the calendar but rather an event. Source: Origin Rang returns to Oyster Bay!

The Liverpool Philharmonic will play to 100 audience members on September the 14th 2007 in the virtual representation of their music hall on an island they have already purchased. The 100 audience members can only get in by winning tickets, something the article did not mention was how to win a ticket. During the concert they will be able to buy sweets from the refreshments shop and go to the bathroom. Boy, I bet those two spots will be packed.
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra hopes to introduce classical music to a new audience when it performs to an audience of 100 ticket winners on September 14.
Vasily Petrenko, the youngest Principal Conductor in the Philharmonic’s 165 year history, will lead the orchestra as they perform works by Rachmaninov, Ravel and two contemporary Liverpool composers.
Petrenko, singer Kate Royal and composer Kenneth Hesketh will be represented during the cyber event by animated Second Life characters known as avatars. The ticket winners, also represented by avatars, will watch the concert live as audience members. Source: Liverpool Philharmonic to play Second Life
After the concert they will be able to meet Petrenko, Royal and Hesketh in a bar where they can ask them questions. The concert will be available to everyone the day after the concert. I will post a Second Life URL when it becomes available and I will try to find out how to win tickets to the concert.
