If you are still looking to learn how to do stuff in Second Life, the College of Second Knowledge might just be for you, classes, tutorials, build it yourself kits, and more available at all times. In five minutes that I was there, I ended up getting notecards with info on making money, getting free lindens, romance, land, groups, some great adventure locations, building and prims and even one on what is Second Life. They have scheduled classes, although not much was going on while I was there, one on making something for Halloween I believe is going on now.
Here is their notecard on building.
Building in Second Life
Almost everything you see in Second Life was built by residents, just like yourself. And every creation starts with a prim, or primitive. Click on the build button at the bottom of your screen and you get the tools you need start making your own Second Life creations.
The next floor of the lighthouse is a building tutorial (which is currently under construction). In the meantime, an excellent self-guided tutorial for builders of all levels is available at the Ivory Tower of Primitives.
Free building classes are held here at College of Second Knowledge and several other schools. Check the Search Events menu and look up education for classes being offered today. Be sure to check the class schedule on the board by the entrance as well.
Looking for a place to build? The College has a sandbox, where anyone is allowed to build, is located 300m above where you are standing now. A teleport is available on the college directory by the entrance.
Also, Learn to Build project kits for many popular SL items are available on the boardwalk and in the store next door.
The build it yourself kits looked pretty cool, I bought this one, the build it yourself hot tub kit, I’ll make sure to post how easy it is, etc, when I go to build it.
Here’s the Second Life URL.
